ENNIS

By Antoinette Rock

Music fills the air
makes bridges
connecting life
without direction.

Music lifts
saddest moments
soothes and smooths
drowns silence.

Music filters
a kaleidoscope of colour
crosses a rainbow
flooded with joy.

Music flows through
dancer’s feet
taps to a horn pipe
traditional streets.

Music drifts
fiddlers tune
Americans reel
to the Kilfenora Céilí Band.

Music echoes
echoes
long after the notes
have flown.

Antoinette Rock has always enjoyed reading and words from a young age. Her poetry is inspired my life and her surroundings. Antoinette’s work has appeared in Boyne Berries, North West Words, Revival, Windows’ 25 Year Celebration, London Reader, Poetry in Motion (N.l.), Sprint Magazine, Ledbury Garden Festival and various other contemporary publications.
